45th South Central Area Painted Ponies Rally
On a clear night in central Oklahoma, you can see the stars. But with their telescope and assistance of astronomers, John and Brenda Nejedlo, F468011, you could see the stars, the moon, planets and galaxies during the 45th South Central Area Six-State Rally in September in Shawnee, Oklahoma. This was just one of more than forty seminars enjoyed by participants.
Over 340 RV's were on the grounds of the Heart of Oklahoma Expo with full 50 amp hookups for the four day rally of visiting over forty company representatives with merchandise for RV's, personal interests, and of course, the newest RV models. In addition, FMCA business seminars were presented by the National Officers, Rett Porter and Jerry Reynolds. Crafter's took joy in producing copper wire trees, Origami swans, beautiful necklaces, humorous painted rocks and more. Additionally, many craft artists participated in the wonderful craft sale on Saturday.
Three great acts entertained: William Florian celebrated John Denver, Dave and Daphne, and Rusty Rierson and his Forever Young Band were all electrifying. Magical Jonathan Meyer mystified at the Ladies Luncheon. The Frustrated Maestros presented reviews during each breakfast session and during an afternoon Sing-Along.
Chapter Day was filled with an Ice Cream Social and Chapter Fair allowing “unattached” members to explore the possibilities of chapter membership. Thursday evening provided chapters time to enjoy restaurant dining as a chapter or cookouts or more dessert time together of just time for fellowship and games.
A First Timers Gathering, Golf Scramble, devotions shared by Coaches for Christ, and Pet Obstacle Course also filled the days. CVS provided free flu immunizations. The Shawnee Youth and Family Resources for abused women and children benefited from the generous 50/50 drawings and the donations of quilts generated by chapter and members.
Visit Shawnee, Shawnee Mall and the Expo Center hosted a roundup of Painted Ponies at the Shawnee Mall and the winner was awarded $200. Additionally, Adventure Caravans awarded Kay Easton a $2,000 travel adventure along with two more $500 winners.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who help make the rally a success. If you are interested in being a volunteer for the rally, mark that on your registration form for next year.
